Participation in an ASA committee provides an unique opportunity for people to network on a more personal level with other professionals in the field of aging. This also allows individuals to pursue involvement in areas of particular interest.
Education and Training
Promotes and provides educational opportunities through workshops, seminars and discussions on topics relative to the field of aging.
Community Resource and Advocacy
Serves as a source of information about age-related issues. Our focus includes the general public, policy makers, institutions, agencies, and the media. This committee also works to provide a forum for discussion relating to legislative issues and public policy.
Networking
Provides opportunities for individuals involved in the field of aging to meet socially, support each other's efforts, and learn more about available organizations, services, and programs.
Membership
Creates awareness of the benefits of membership. Seeks to integrate the personal and professional agendas of the various disciplines involved in the field of aging into the programs and services offered.
Communications
Creates, publishes, and distributes ASA's quarterly newsletter, oversees press releases to the local media, provides information of upcoming ASA-sponsored events, and manages the ASA website.
